✧ al-A'raj from Abu Hurayrah

وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

يَعْقِدُ الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَى قَافِيَةِ رَأْسِ أَحَدِكُمْ ثَلَاثَ عُقَدٍ، فِي كُلِّ عُقْدَةٍ يَضْرِبُ مَكَانَهَا عَلَيْكَ لَيْلٌ طَوِيلٌ فَارْقُدْ، فَإِنِ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَذَكَرَ رَبَّهُ انْحَلَّتْ عُقْدَةٌ، فَإِنْ تَوَضَّأَ انْحَلَّتْ عُقْدَةٌ، فَإِنْ صَلَّى انْحَلَّتْ عُقْدَةٌ، فَأَصْبَحَ نَشِيطَ النَّفْسِ، طَيِّبَ النَّفْسِ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ أَصْبَحَ خَبِيثَ النَّفْسِ كَسْلَانَ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Rasūl Allāh ﷺ

✧ Satan ties three knots on the back of the head of one of you when he sleeps. At each knot he strikes and says, 'You have a long night, so sleep.' If he wakes and remembers his Lord, one knot is loosened. If he performs ablution, another knot is loosened. If he prays, the remaining knot is loosened. In the morning he is energetic and good in spirit. If he does not do that, he wakes up foul in spirit and lazy.
