حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

احْشُدُوا فَإِنِّي سَأَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكُمْ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ، فَحَشَدُوا فَقَرَأَ عَلَيْنَا: قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ، حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُنَا: قَدْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ: سَأَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكُمْ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ، وَلَمْ يَقْرَأْ، مَا هَذَا إِلَّا لِخَبَرٍ جَاءَهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا، فَقَالَ: إِنَّهَا ثُلُثُ الْقُرْآنِ

✧ "Gather together, for I will recite to you a third of the Qur'an." So they gathered, and he recited to us: Say: He is God, the One, until he completed it. Then he entered. Some of us said: "The Prophet ﷺ had said: 'I will recite to you a third of the Qur'an,' and he did not recite. This is nothing but news that came to him from heaven." He said: Then he came out to us and said: "It is a third of the Qur'an."
