✧ The best of matters is the middle course

قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ مَعْقِلٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ وَهْبًا، يَقُولُ:

إِنَّ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ طَرَفَيْنِ وَوَسَطًا، فَإِذَا أُمْسِكَ بِأَحَدِ الطَّرَفَيْنِ مَالَ الْآخَرُ، وَإِذَا أُمْسِكَ بِالْوَسَطِ اعْتَدَلَ الطَّرَفَانِ، وَقَالَ: عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْأَوْسَاطِ مِنَ الْأَشْيَاءِ

Translation

✧ Everything has two ends and a middle. If one of the ends is held, the other inclines; and if the middle is held, the two ends become balanced. And he said: Adhere to the middle courses of things.
