حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ:

إِنَّ فِي أُمَّتِي لَنَيِّفًا وَسَبْعِينَ دَاعِيًا كُلُّهُمْ دَاعٍ إِلَى النَّارِ، لَوْ أَشَاءُ لَأَنْبَأْتُكُمْ بِآبَائِهِمْ وَقَبَائِلِهِمْ. قَالَ: ثُمَّ مَرَرْنَا عَلَى بِرَكٍ، قَالَ: فَجَعَلْنَا نَكْرَعُ فِيهَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَا تَكْرَعُوا وَلَكِنِ اغْسِلُوا أَيْدِيَكُمْ، ثُمَّ اشْرَبُوا فِيهَا، فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ أَطْيَبُ مِنَ الْيَدِ

Translation

✧ Indeed in my ummah there will be more than seventy callers, all of them calling to the Fire. If I wished, I would inform you of their fathers and tribes. He said: Then we passed by some pools. He said: We began to lap water from them with our mouths, so the Messenger of God ﷺ said: Do not lap water; rather wash your hands, then drink from them, for there is no vessel better than the hand.
