حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ
أَنَّ عَلِيًّا، صَنَعَ طَعَامًا، فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا نَظَرَ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ رَجَعَ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ: مَا رَجَعَكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، فِدَاكَ أَبِي وَأُمِّي ؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ فِي بَيْتِكَ سِتْرًا فِيهِ تَصَاوِيرُ، وَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَا تَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ تَصَاوِيرُ
Translation

✧ Ali prepared food, and the Prophet ﷺ came. When he looked at the house, he turned back. Ali said: “What made you turn back, O Prophet of God, may my father and mother be your ransom?” He said: “I saw in your house a curtain with images upon it, and indeed the angels do not enter a house in which there are images.”
