حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى الْجَابِرِ، عَنْ أَبِي مَاجِدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:
سَأَلْنَا نَبِيَّنَا ﷺ عَنِ الْمَشْيِ مَعَ الْجِنَازَةِ، فَقَالَ: مَا دُونَ الْخَبَبِ، فَإِنْ يَكُنْ خَيْرًا يُعَجَّلْ إِلَيْهِ، وَإِنْ يَكُ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ فَبُعْدًا لِأَهْلِ النَّارِ، الْجِنَازَةُ مَتْبُوعَةٌ وَلَا تَتْبَعُ، لَيْسَ مِنْهَا مَنْ تَقَدَّمَهَا
Translation

✧ We asked our Prophet ﷺ about walking with a funeral procession. He said: 'Less than a trot. If it is good, it is hastened to it; and if it is other than that, then away with the people of the Fire. The funeral procession is followed and does not follow; the one who walks ahead of it is not part of it.'
