وَعَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ، وَالْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:

بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ إِذْ سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ، فَقَالَ: أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ: خَرَجَ مِنَ النَّارِ، فَابْتَدَرْنَاهُ، فَإِذَا هُوَ صَاحِبُ مَاشِيَةٍ أَدْرَكَتْهُ الصَّلَاةُ فَنَادَى لَهَا

Translation

✧ While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ on one of his journeys, we heard a crier calling: 'God is greatest, God is greatest.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Upon the natural disposition.' He said: 'I bear witness that there is no god but God, I bear witness that there is no god but God.' The Prophet said: 'He has come out of the Fire.' We hurried to him, and he was a livestock keeper whom the prayer overtook, so he called it.
