حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:
نَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى حَصِيرٍ قَدْ أَثَّرَ فِي جَنْبِهِ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَلَا آذَنْتَنَا فَبَسَطْنَا تَحْتَكَ أَلْيَنَ مِنْهُ ؟ فَقَالَ: مَا لِي وَلِلدُّنْيَا ؟ إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الدُّنْيَا كَرَاكِبٍ سَارَ فِي يَوْمٍ صَائِفٍ، فَقَالَ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ، ثُمَّ رَاحَ وَتَرَكَهَا
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ slept on a straw mat that left marks on his side. We said, "O Messenger of God, why did you not inform us so that we could spread something softer than it beneath you?" He said, "What have I to do with the world? My similitude and that of the world is but that of a rider who travels on a scorching day, stops in the shade of a tree, then departs and leaves it."
