✧ The last person to enter Paradise will be a man who walks across the Bridge. He will stumble once and walk once, and the Fire will scorch him once. When he has crossed the Bridge, he will turn to it and say: Blessed be the One who saved me from you. He has given me what He has not given anyone among the first and the last. A tree will be raised for him and he will look at it and say: O Lord, bring me near this tree so that I may shade myself with its shade and drink from its water. He will say: O servant, perhaps if I bring you near it you will ask Me for something else. He will say: No, O Lord. He will covenant with Him that he will not ask for anything else, and the Lord, Blessed and Exalted, knows that he will ask for something else because he sees what he cannot bear to do without. So He will bring him near it. Then a tree better than it will be raised for him, and he will say: O Lord, bring me near this tree so that I may shade myself with its shade and drink from its water. He will say: O servant, did you not covenant with Me not to ask Me for anything else? He will say: O Lord, this one I will not ask You for anything else. So He will bring him near it. Then a tree better than it will be raised for him at the gate of Paradise, and he will say: O Lord, bring me near this tree so that I may shade myself with its shade and drink from its water. He will say: O servant, did you not covenant with Me not to ask Me for anything else? He will say: O Lord, this one I will not ask You for anything else. He will covenant with Him—and the Lord knows that he will ask for something else because he sees what he cannot bear to do without—so He will bring him near it. Then he will hear the voices of the people of Paradise and say: O Lord, Paradise, Paradise. He will say: O My servant, did you not covenant with Me not to ask Me for anything else? He will say: O Lord, admit me into Paradise. He, Blessed and Exalted, will say: What will satisfy you from Me, O My servant? Will it please you that I give you the world and the like of it with it? Abdullah laughed until his molar teeth showed, then said: Will you not ask me why I laughed? They said: Why did you laugh? He said: Because of the laughter of the Messenger of God ﷺ.
