✧ A wind blew while we were with Abdullah. Ibn Mas'ud became angry until we recognized anger on his face. He said: 'Woe to you! The Hour will not come until no inheritance is divided and no booty is rejoiced over.' Then he pointed with his hand toward Syria and said: 'An enemy gathers against the Muslims from here. They meet, and he stipulates a detachment for death that does not return except victorious. They fight until the sun sets from here. They meet, and he stipulates a detachment for death that does not return except victorious. They fight until the sun sets, and neither side is victorious, and the detachment is annihilated. Then he stipulates a detachment for death that does not return except victorious. They fight until the sun sets. These and those return, and neither side is victorious, and the detachment is annihilated. Then they meet on the fourth day, and they kill them and rout them until the blood reaches the horses' saddle straps. They fight until the sons of one father count themselves among a hundred and are killed, leaving no man among them. So what inheritance will be divided after this, and what booty will be rejoiced over? Then they conquer Constantinople. While they are dividing dinars with shields, a greater terror comes to them: that the Dajjal has appeared among your families. So they abandon what is in their hands and return, sending out a vanguard of horsemen.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'They on that day are the best horsemen on earth. I know their names, their fathers' names, their tribes, and the colors of their horses.'
