حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ:

إِنَّهُ صَنَعَ طَعَامًا فَدَعَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَرَأَى فِي الْبَيْتِ شَيْئًا فِيهِ تَصَاوِيرُ، فَرَجَعَ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا رَجَعَكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّ فِي الْبَيْتِ سِتْرًا فِيهِ تَصَاوِيرُ، وَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَا تَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ تَصَاوِيرُ

Translation

✧ He prepared food and invited the Messenger of God ﷺ; he saw in the house something in which there were images, and he went back. He said: I said: O Messenger of God, what made you go back, may my father and mother be your ransom? He said: In the house there is a curtain with images on it, and the angels do not enter a house in which there are images.
