حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:
كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي غَارٍ، فَنَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ: وَالْمُرْسَلاتِ عُرْفًا، فَأَخَذْتُهَا مِنْ فِيهِ، وَإِنَّ فَاهُ لَرَطْبٌ، فَمَا أَدْرِي بِأَيِّهَا خَتَمَ: فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ، أَوْ وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لا يَرْكَعُونَ، فَسَبَقَتْنَا حَيَّةٌ فَدَخَلَتْ فِي جُحْرٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: وُقِيتُمْ شَرَّهَا، وَوُقِيَتْ شَرَّكُمْ
Translation

✧ We were with the Prophet ﷺ in a cave, and there was sent down upon him: “By those sent forth in succession” (al-Mursalat). I took it from his mouth, and his mouth was moist. I do not know with which of them he concluded: “Then in what statement after it will they believe?” or “And when it is said to them, ‘Bow,’ they do not bow.” A snake raced ahead of us and entered a hole. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “You have been protected from its evil, and it has been protected from your evil.”
