أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ بِنَسَا قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْجُعْفِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي غَارٍ فَنَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ {وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا} فَإِنَّهُ لَيَتْلُوهَا وَإِنِّي لَأَتَلَقَّاهَا مِنْ فِيهِ وَإِنَّ فَاهُ لَرَطْبٌ بِهَا إِذْ وَثَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا حَيَّةٌ فقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «اقْتُلُوهَا» فَابْتَدَرْنَاهَا فَذَهَبَتْ فقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَقَدْ وُقِيَتْ شَرَّكُمْ كَمَا وُقِيتُمْ شَرَّهَا»

✧ While we were with the Prophet ﷺ in a cave, {By those sent forth in succession} was revealed to him. He was reciting it, and I was receiving it from his mouth while his mouth was still moist with it. Suddenly a snake leapt upon us. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Kill it!" We rushed at it, but it got away. The Prophet ﷺ said, "It was protected from your evil as you were protected from its evil."
