حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نِيَارٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: مَنْ هَذَا ؟ فَقَالُوا: فُلَانٌ، فَقَالَ: بِئْسَ الرَّجُلُ وَبِئْسَ ابْنُ الْعَشِيرَةِ - أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ - ائْذَنُوا لَهُ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ انْبَسَطَ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: قُلْتَ: بِئْسَ الرَّجُلُ، وَبِئْسَ ابْنُ الْعَشِيرَةِ، ثُمَّ انْبَسَطْتَ إِلَيْهِ ؟ فَقَالَ: يَا عَائِشَةُ، إِنَّ شَرَّ النَّاسِ عِنْدَ اللهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ تَرَكَهُ النَّاسُ اتِّقَاءَ شَرِّهِ

✧ A man sought permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: Who is this? They said: So-and-so. He said: What an evil man and what an evil son of his clan—or as he said—give him permission. When he entered, he was affable toward him. Aisha said: You said: What an evil man and what an evil son of his clan, then you were affable toward him? He said: O Aisha, the worst of people in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection is the one whom people avoid out of fear of his evil.
