✧ I was sitting with ʿAli when Abu Masʿud came to him, and ʿAli said: “Furrukh has come.” He sat down, and ʿAli said: “Do you give legal opinions to people?” He said: “Yes, and I tell them that the Hereafter is better.” He said: “Tell me, have you heard anything from him?” He said: “Yes, I heard him say: ‘There will not come upon people the year one hundred while on earth there is an eye that blinks.’” ʿAli said: “Your buttocks missed the hole; you erred in your first legal opinion. He only said that to those who were present with him that day. Is there prosperity except after the hundred?”
