✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said during his illness: “Let Abu Bakr lead the people in prayer.” Aisha said to Hafsa: “Tell him that Abu Bakr is a tender-hearted man, and if he stands in your place, the people will not hear him due to weeping. Command Umar to lead the people.” Hafsa said that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: “Let Abu Bakr lead the people.” Aisha repeated to Hafsa what she had said before, and he said: “Let Abu Bakr lead the people.” Aisha repeated to Hafsa her words to the Prophet ﷺ once more, and he said: “Leave me. You are indeed like the companions of Yusuf. Let Abu Bakr lead the people.”
