حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ:
نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ: إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا هِيَ رَحْمَةٌ رَحِمَكُمُ اللهُ، إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ عِنْدَ اللهِ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade continuous fasting. They said: O Messenger of Allah, but you fast continuously? He said: That is only a mercy; may Allah have mercy on you. I am not like you. I spend the night with Allah feeding me and giving me drink.
