✧ We were with the Messenger of God ﷺ at Tabuk, and the sun rose with a brilliance, rays, and light the like of which it had not been seen to rise with before. Then Gabriel came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: “O Gabriel, why do I see the sun today rose with a brilliance, light, and rays the like of which I have not seen it rise with before?” He said: “That is because Muʿāwiya b. Muʿāwiya al-Laythī died in Madinah today, so God sent to him a thousand angels praying over him.” He said: “And why is that?” He said: “He used to recite ‘Say: He is God, the One’ frequently night and day, in his walking, standing, and sitting. Would you like, O Messenger of God, that I fold up the earth for you so that you may pray over him?” He said: “Yes.” So he prayed over him.
