حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْبُرْجُمِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي الظِّلَالِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، قَالَ:

كَانَتْ لَهَا شَاةٌ، فَجَمَعَتْ مِنْ سَمْنِهَا فِي عُكَّةٍ، فَمَلَأَتِ الْعُكَّةَ ثُمَّ بَعَثَتْ بِهَا مَعَ رَبِيبَةَ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَبِيبَةُ، أَبْلِغِي هَذِهِ الْعُكَّةَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْتَدِمُ بِهَا، فَانْطَلَقَتْ بِهَا رَبِيبَةُ حَتَّى أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عُكَّةُ سَمْنٍ بَعَثَتْ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ، قَالَ: فَرِّغُوا لَهَا عُكَّتَهَا، فَفُرِّغَتِ الْعُكَّةُ، فَدُفِعَتْ إِلَيْهَا، فَانْطَلَقَتْ بِهَا، فَجَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ، فَرَأَتِ الْعُكَّةَ مُمْتَلِئَةً تَقْطُرُ، فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ: يَا رَبِيبَةُ، أَلَيْسَ أَمَرْتُكِ أَنْ تَنْطَلِقِي بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ فَقَالَتْ: قَدْ فَعَلْتُ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تُصَدِّقِينِي، فَانْطَلِقِي فَسَلِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَانْطَلَقَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ وَمَعَهَا رَبِيبَةُ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي بَعَثَتْ إِلَيْكَ مَعَهَا بِعُكَّةٍ فِيهَا سَمْنٌ، قَالَ: قَدْ فَعَلَتْ، قَدْ جَاءَتْ بِهَا، فَقَالَتْ: وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ إِنَّهَا لَمُمْتَلِئَةٌ تَقْطُرُ سَمْنًا، قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَتَعْجَبِينَ أَنْ كَانَ اللهُ أَطْعَمَكِ كَمَا أَطْعَمْتِ نَبِيَّهُ، كُلِي وَأَطْعِمِي، قَالَتْ: فَجِئْتُ الْبَيْتَ، فَقَسَمْتُ فِي قَعْبٍ لَنَا كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَتَرَكْتُ فِيهَا مَا ائْتَدَمْنَا مِنْهُ شَهْرًا أَوْ شَهْرَيْنِ

✧ She had a ewe, so she collected its clarified butter in a leather container and filled the container, then sent it with a foster daughter, saying: “O foster daughter, deliver this leather container to the Messenger of God ﷺ so that he may use it as a condiment.” The foster daughter set off with it until she came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of God, a leather container of clarified butter that Umm Sulaym has sent to you.” He said: “Empty her container for her.” So the container was emptied and returned to her, and she left with it. Then Umm Sulaym came and saw the container full, dripping. Umm Sulaym said: “O foster daughter, did I not tell you to take it to the Messenger of God ﷺ?” She said: “I did, and if you do not believe me, go and ask the Messenger of God ﷺ.” So Umm Sulaym went with her foster daughter and said: “O Messenger of God, I sent with her to you a leather container containing clarified butter.” He said: “She did what you told her; she brought it.” She said: “By the One who sent you with guidance and the true religion, it is indeed full, dripping with clarified butter.” He said: “The Messenger of God ﷺ said to her: ‘Do you marvel that God has fed you as you fed His Prophet? Eat and feed others.’” She said: “Then I came to the house and divided it in a bowl of ours such and such, and left in it enough for us to use as a condiment for a month or two.”
