✧ Abu Talha saw the Messenger of God ﷺ hungry, so he went to Umm Sulaym and said, 'I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ hungry. Do you have anything?' She said, 'We have nothing but about a mudd of barley flour.' He said, 'Knead it and prepare it; perhaps we can invite the Messenger of God ﷺ to eat with us.' She kneaded it and baked it into a loaf. He said to me, 'Invite the Prophet ﷺ.' I went to the Prophet ﷺ, and with him were people. Mubarak said, 'I think he said: eighty-some.' I said, 'O Messenger of God, Abu Talha invites you.' He said to his companions, 'Respond to Abu Talha's invitation.' I hurried back and told him that his companions had come. Bakr said: He nudged me. Thabit said: Abu Talha said, 'The Messenger of God knows better what is in my house than I do.' Both said, from Anas: Abu Talha met him and said, 'O Messenger of God, we have nothing but a loaf. I saw you hungry, so I ordered Umm Sulaym to make you a loaf.' He asked for the loaf and for a large bowl, and he placed it in the bowl. He said, 'Is there any ghee?' Abu Talha said, 'There was something in the skin.' He brought it. The Prophet ﷺ and Abu Talha squeezed it until something came out. The Prophet ﷺ wiped his forefinger, then wiped the loaf, and it swelled. He said, 'In the name of God,' and the loaf swelled. He kept doing that, and the loaf kept swelling until I saw it overflowing in the bowl. He said, 'Invite ten of my companions.' I invited ten for him. The Prophet ﷺ placed his hand in the middle of the loaf and said, 'Eat, in the name of God.' They ate from around the loaf until they were full. Then he said, 'Invite another ten for me.' I invited another ten. He said, 'Eat, in the name of God.' They ate from around the loaf until they were full. He kept inviting ten at a time, and they ate from that loaf until they were full, while the middle of the loaf where the Messenger of God ﷺ had placed his hand remained as it was.
