✧ He stood at night over the well in which Abu Jahl and his companions lay at Badr, three days after they had been killed, and called out: “O Abu Jahl b. Hisham! O ʿUtba b. Rabiʿa! O Shayba b. Rabiʿa! O Umayya b. Khalaf! Have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? For I have found what my Lord promised me to be true.” Some of his companions whom God willed came out to him and said: “O Messenger of God, do you call a people who have rotted for three days?” He said: “You are not more able to hear what I say than they are, except that they cannot answer me.”
