✧ The Jews, when a woman menstruated, would not eat with her or be intimate with her in the houses. The Companions of the Prophet ﷺ asked the Prophet ﷺ, and Allah revealed: “They ask you about menstruation. Say: It is harm, so keep away from women during menstruation,” the verse. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Do everything except intercourse.” This reached the Jews, and they said: “This man wants to leave nothing of our affair without contradicting us in it.” Usayd b. Hudayr and Abbad b. Bishr came and said: “O Messenger of Allah, the Jews say such and such; should we not be intimate with them?” The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ changed color until we thought he was angry with them. They left, and a gift of milk met them. He sent after them and gave them to drink, so we knew he was not angry with them.
