✧ I proposed to the Prophet ﷺ for his daughter Fatimah. Ali sold a coat of mail of his and some of what he sold of his belongings, and it reached four hundred and eighty dirhams. He said: The Prophet ﷺ commanded that two thirds of it be spent on perfume and one third on clothing. He spat into a jar of water and ordered them to wash with it. He said: He commanded her not to precede him in nursing her child. Ali said: She preceded him in nursing al-Husayn. As for al-Hasan, the Prophet ﷺ put something in his mouth that we do not know, and he became the more learned of the two men.
