حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا

يَقُولُ لِامْرَأَةٍ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ: أَتَعْرِفِينَ فُلَانَةَ ؟ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ بِهَا وَهِيَ تَبْكِي عَلَى قَبْرٍ، فَقَالَ لَهَا: اتَّقِي اللهَ وَاصْبِرِي، فَقَالَتْ: إِلَيْكَ عَنِّي، فَإِنَّكَ لَا تُبَالِي بِمُصِيبَتِي - وَلَمْ تَكُنْ تَعْرِفُهُ - فَقِيلَ لَهَا: إِنَّهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ! فَأَخَذَهَا مِثْلُ الْمَوْتِ، فَجَاءَتْ إِلَى بَابِهِ، فَلَمْ تَجِدْ عَلَيْهِ بَوَّابًا، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي لَمْ أَعْرِفْكَ، فَقَالَ لَهَا: إِنَّ الصَّبْرَ عِنْدَ أَوَّلِ صَدْمَةٍ

✧ He said to a woman of his family: Do you know so-and-so? The Messenger of God ﷺ passed by her while she was weeping at a grave, and he said to her: Fear God and be patient. She said: Away from me, for you do not care about my calamity—and she did not know him. It was said to her: He is the Messenger of God! Then something like death seized her, and she came to his door but found no doorkeeper at it. She said: O Messenger of God, I did not recognize you. He said to her: Patience is only at the first shock.
