✧ Thabit al-Bunani from Anas

حَدَّثَنَا قَطَنُ بْنُ نُسَيْرٍ أَبُو عَبَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

كَانَ ثَابِتُ بْنُ قَيْسِ بْنِ شَمَّاسٍ خَطِيبَ الْأَنْصَارِ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَرْفَعُوا أَصْوَاتَكُمْ فَوْقَ صَوْتِ النَّبِيِّ وَلا تَجْهَرُوا لَهُ بِالْقَوْلِ كَجَهْرِ بَعْضِكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ الْآيَةَ، قَالَ ثَابِتٌ: أَنَا الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَرْفَعُ صَوْتِي فَوْقَ صَوْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَأَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: بَلْ هُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ، بَلْ هُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ

Translation

✧ Thabit b. Qays b. Shammas was the orator of the Ansar. When this verse was revealed: 'O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet and do not speak loudly to him as you speak loudly to one another,' Thabit said: 'I am the one who used to raise my voice above the voice of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I am among the people of the Fire.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Rather, he is among the people of Paradise. Rather, he is among the people of Paradise.'
