✧ Abu Talha had a son who was given the kunya Abu Umayr. He said: The Prophet ﷺ used to say, 'Abu Umayr, what happened to the little bird?' He said: The child died while Abu Talha was away in one of his gardens. Umm Sulaym got up, washed him, shrouded him, and covered him with a cloth. She said, 'No one is to inform Abu Talha until I am the one who tells him.' Abu Talha came back tired while he was fasting. She adorned herself and beautified herself for him, and brought his dinner. He said, 'What happened to Abu Umayr?' She said, 'He has settled down.' So he ate dinner and had intercourse with her as a man does with his wife. Then she said, 'O Abu Talha, what do you think about a household that lent something to another household, and its owners asked for it back? Should they return it or keep it?' He said, 'Rather, they should return it to them.' She said, 'Then seek reward for Abu Umayr.' He said: He became angry and went as he was to the Prophet ﷺ and told him about Umm Sulaym's words and actions. He said, 'May Allah bless you both in the remainder of your night.' He said: She became pregnant with Abdullah b. Abu Talha. When she gave birth to him and it was the seventh day, Umm Sulaym said to me, 'O Anas, take this boy to the Prophet ﷺ, along with this basket containing some pressed dates, so that he may be the one to perform tahnik on him and name him.' The Prophet ﷺ stretched out his legs, laid him in his lap, took a date, chewed it, and put it in the baby's mouth. The baby began to smack his lips. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'The Ansar love dates, and nothing will stop them.'
