حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

لَمَّا كَانَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي قَدِمَ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ أَضَاءَ مِنْهَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَظْلَمَ مِنْهَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ، قَالَ: وَمَا نَفَضْنَا أَيْدِيَنَا مِنْ تُرَابِ قَبْرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى أَنْكَرْنَا قُلُوبَنَا

Translation

✧ On the day the Messenger of God ﷺ arrived in Madinah, everything in it lit up. On the day the Messenger of God ﷺ died, everything in it darkened. He said: We had not finished shaking the dust of the grave of the Messenger of God ﷺ from our hands before we found our hearts altered.
