حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ الصَّوَّافُ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
لَمَّا كَانَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي دَخَلَ فِيهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ أَضَاءَ مِنْهَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَظْلَمَ مِنْهَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ، وَمَا نَفَضْنَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْأَيْدِي - إِنَّا لَفِي دَفْنِهِ - حَتَّى أَنْكَرْنَا قُلُوبَنَا

✧ On the day the Prophet ﷺ entered Madinah, everything in it was illuminated, and on the day the Prophet ﷺ died, everything in it became dark. We had not yet removed our hands from the Prophet ﷺ—we were still burying him—before we even began to disapprove of our own hearts.
