حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ - قَالَ: أَحْسِبُهُ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ - قَالَ:
دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَعُودُهُ فَوَافَقَهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَوْتِ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ: كَيْفَ تَجِدُكَ ؟ قَالَ: بِخَيْرٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَرْجُو اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَأَخَافُ ذُنُوبِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَنْ يَجْتَمِعَا فِي قَلْبِ رَجُلٍ عِنْدَ هَذَا الْمَوْطِنِ إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ اللهُ رَجَاءَهُ، وَأَمَّنَهُ مِمَّا يَخَافُ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ entered upon a man to visit him and found him at the point of death. He greeted him and said: "How do you find yourself?" He said: "I am well, O Messenger of God. I hope in God, Mighty and Majestic, and I fear my sins." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "They will not combine in the heart of a man at this moment except that God will grant him his hope and secure him from what he fears."
