✧ When it was the day of the conquest and Quraysh came in the morning, the Ansar said: By Allah, this is indeed astonishing; our swords are dripping with the blood of Quraysh, while our spoils are being divided among them. This reached the Prophet ﷺ, so he sent specifically for the Ansar and said: What is this that has reached me about you? He said: And they would not lie. They said: It is what reached you. He said: Are you not pleased that the people go away with the spoils while you return with the Messenger of Allah to your homes? And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If the people were to travel through a valley — or he said: a mountain pass — I would travel through the mountain pass of the Ansar.
