machine translationThere is disagreement about Ḥumayd. Muḥammad b. Isḥāq, Muḥammad b. ʿAjlān, ʿAbd al-Wārith b. Saʿīd, ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī, Muʿtamir, Ibn ʿUyaynah, Abū Bakr b. ʿAyyāsh and Marwān b. Muʿāwiyah al-Fazārī narrated it from Ḥumayd, from Anas, and traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ. There is also disagreement about Mālik b. Anas. Ibn Wahb narrated it outside the Muwaṭṭaʾ from Mālik, and al-ʿUmarī and Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Ḥumayd, from Anas, as a raised report (marfūʿ), and al-Walīd b. Muslim followed him in that, from Mālik. But Ibn Wahb narrated it in the Muwaṭṭaʾ as a halted report (mawqūf). Likewise al-Qaʿnabī, Abū Muṣʿab, Ibn al-Qāsim, Maʿn and Ismāʿīl b. Mūsā narrated it from Mālik as halted (mawqūf). It is also reported from Shuʿbah, from Ḥumayd, from Anas, as raised (marfūʿ), and sometimes he halted it; Ibn Abī ʿAdī preserved that from him: he narrated it from Ḥumayd, from Anas, as halted, and he narrated it from Ḥumayd, from Qatādah, from Anas, as raised. Zuhayr b. Muʿāwiyah narrated it from Ḥumayd, from Anas, with Ḥumayd thinking that it was from the Prophet ﷺ. The preserved (maḥfūẓ) version of this is that Ḥumayd narrated it from Anas.

machine translationThe hadiths on reciting silently are explicit texts that do not admit of reinterpretation. Moreover, nothing else conflicts with them, because of their soundness and authenticity. The hadiths on reciting aloud are, without doubt, not equal to them in authenticity. Then, the most authentic of the hadiths on not reciting aloud is the hadith of Anas, though its wording was disputed from him. The most authentic of the narrations from him is: "They would begin the recitation with 'Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds.'"

machine translationIt was likewise narrated from al-Aʿmash, from Qatādah and Thābit, from Anas. It was likewise narrated by the majority of Qatādah's students, among them Hishām al-Dastuwāʾī, Saʿīd b. Abī ʿArūbah, Abān b. Yazīd al-ʿAṭṭār, Ḥammād b. Salamah, Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl, Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī, al-Awzāʿī, Saʿīd b. Bashīr and others. Maʿmar and Hammām also narrated it, but the wording differs from them. And it is the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version from Qatādah and others, from Anas.
