حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ، قَالَ: أَنْتُمْ لَسْتُمْ كَهَيْئَتِي، إِنِّي أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade continuous fasting. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, but you fast continuously." He said, "You are not like me. I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me drink."
