حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

سَبْعٌ لِلْبِكْرِ، وَثَلَاثٌ لِلثَّيِّبِ، أَمَا إِنِّي لَوْ قُلْتُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَصَدَقْتُ، وَلَكِنْ سُنَّةٌ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Muḥammad b. Abū Bakr al-Muqaddamī

  3. Khālid al-Ḥadhhāʾ
  4. Abū Qilābah
  5. Anas

✧ Seven for a virgin, and three for a previously married woman. Indeed, had I said it was from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I would have spoken the truth, but it is a sunnah.
