✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ left Makkah, he said: "By God, I will leave you, and I know that you are the most beloved of God's lands to me and the most honorable to God. Had your people not driven me out, I would not have left. O Banu 'Abd Manaf, if you are the guardians of this matter after me, do not prevent anyone from circumambulating the House of God at any hour of the night or day. Were it not that Quraysh would transgress, I would tell them what they have with God. O God, You made the first of them taste a calamity; so make the last of them taste a gift."

machine translationWe do not know this hadith to be narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās except through two routes. One of them was narrated by Ṭalḥah b. ʿAmr, from ʿAṭāʾ, from Ibn ʿAbbās; we did not cite the hadith of Ṭalḥah because of Ṭalḥah's weakness (ḍaʿf). We cited it instead from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUthmān, from Saʿīd, from Ibn ʿAbbās, since this chain is sounder and more fitting to be cited. It has also been narrated from the Prophet ﷺ through more than one route with differing wordings, so we cited each of these hadiths in its own place with its own wording.
