حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:

بَيْنَمَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ، يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ إِذْ دَخَلَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَعَرَّضَ بِهِ عُمَرُ، فَقَالَ: مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ يَتَأَخَّرُونَ بَعْدَ النِّدَاءِ ؟ قَالَ عُثْمَانُ: يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، مَا زِدْتُ حِينَ سَمِعْتُ النِّدَاءَ عَلَى أَنْ تَوَضَّأْتُ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلْتُ، قَالَ عُمَرُ: وَالْوُضُوءَ أَيْضًا ! أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ

✧ While Umar b. al-Khattab was delivering the Friday sermon to the people, Uthman b. Affan entered the mosque. Umar alluded to him and said: What is the matter with men who come late after the call? Uthman said: O Commander of the Faithful, I did not delay after hearing the call except to perform ablution and then come. Umar said: And ablution too! Did you not hear the Messenger of God ﷺ say: When one of you comes to the Friday prayer, let him perform a full bath?
