✧ When “Perish the hands of Abu Lahab” was revealed, the wife of Abu Lahab came to the Prophet ﷺ, and Abu Bakr was with him. When Abu Bakr saw her, he said: “O Messenger of God, she is an abusive woman, and I fear that she may harm you, so would you get up?” He said: “She will not see me.” She came and said: “O Abu Bakr, your companion has satirized me.” He said: “He does not recite poetry.” She said: “You are believed by me,” and turned away. I said: “O Messenger of God, she did not see you!” He said: “An angel kept shielding me from her with his wings.”
