✧ When the verse 'May the hands of Abu Lahab perish' was revealed, the wife of Abu Lahab came to the Prophet ﷺ while Abu Bakr was with him. When Abu Bakr saw her, he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, she is an abusive woman, and I fear she may harm you, so perhaps you should leave.' He said: 'She will never see me.' She said: 'O Abu Bakr, your companion has satirized me.' He said: 'He does not compose poetry.' She said: 'You are believed in my sight,' and she turned away. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, she did not see you?' He said: 'An angel kept screening me from her with his wing.'
