وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرٌو، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ. وَابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَخَّرَهَا حَتَّى ذَهَبَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، رَقَدَ النِّسَاءُ وَالْوِلْدَانُ، فَخَرَجَ وَقَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَصَلَّيْتُهَا هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ - يَعْنِي الْعِشَاءَ
Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ delayed it until as much of the night had passed as Allah willed. 'Umar said to him, 'O Messenger of Allah, the women and children have gone to sleep.' He came out and said, 'Were it not that I would impose hardship on my community, I would have prayed it at this hour' - meaning the 'isha' prayer.
