حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ:
رَخَّصَ لَهُمْ فِي قَطْعِ النَّخْلِ ثُمَّ شَدَّدَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَأَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عَلَيْنَا إِثْمٌ فِيمَا قَطَعْنَا، أَوْ عَلَيْنَا فِيمَا تَرَكْنَا ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ: مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَائِمَةً عَلَى أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ اللهِ

✧ He granted them a concession to cut down the palm trees, then he made it strict upon them. They came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, is there sin upon us for what we cut, or upon us for what we left? Then Allah revealed: Whatever you cut down of the tender palm trees or left standing on their roots, it was by Allah's permission.
