✧ When al-Ḥajjāj arrived, he began to delay the prayer. I asked Jābir—or he was asked—and he said, "The Messenger of God ﷺ used to pray ẓuhr at midday, pray ʿaṣr while the sun was still bright, pray maghrib when the sun had set, and for ʿishāʾ, if people had gathered he would hasten it, and if people were few he would delay it, and he used to pray ṣubḥ in the dark before dawn."
