حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسِ بْنِ الْحَدَثَانِ

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ بَاعَ مِنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ مِائَةَ دِينَارٍ بِوَرِقٍ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: مِثْلُهَا فِي يَدِهِ، قُلْتُ: مَا لِي مَالٌ حَتَّى يَجِيءَ صَاحِبُ ضَيْعَتِي مِنَ الْغَابَةِ، فَقَالَ: لَا، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: الذَّهَبُ بِالْفِضَّةِ رِبًا إِلَّا هَاءَ وَهَاءَ

Translation

✧ Umar b. al-Khattab sold to Talha b. Ubayd Allah one hundred dinars for silver. Umar said: Its like is not in his hand. I said: I have no money until the keeper of my estate comes from al-Ghaba. He said: No, I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Gold for silver is usury unless it is hand to hand.
