حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ، وَغَيْرُهُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ امْرَأَةَ سَعْدِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ سَعْدًا هَلَكَ وَتَرَكَ ابْنَتَيْنِ وَأَخَاهُ، فَعَمَدَ أَخُوهُ فَقَبَضَ مَا تَرَكَ سَعْدٌ، وَإِنَّمَا تُنْكَحُ النِّسَاءُ عَلَى أَمْوَالِهِنَّ، فَلَمْ يُجِبْهَا فِي مَجْلِسِهِ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، ابْنَتَا سَعْدٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: ادْعُ لِيَ أَخَاهُ، فَجَاءَهُ، فَقَالَ: ادْفَعْ إِلَى ابْنَتَيْهِ الثُّلُثَيْنِ، وَإِلَى امْرَأَتِهِ الثُّمُنَ، وَلَكَ مَا بَقِيَ

✧ The wife of Sa'd b. al-Rabi' said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Sa'd has died and left two daughters and his brother. His brother took possession of what Sa'd left, and women are only married for their wealth.' He did not answer her in that gathering. Then she came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the two daughters of Sa'd.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Summon his brother for me.' He came to him and said: 'Give his two daughters two-thirds, his wife one-eighth, and you will have what remains.'
