حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ جَارِيَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَكَّةَ فَمَرَّ عَلَى رَجُلٍ قَائِمٍ يُصَلِّي عَلَى صَخْرَةٍ، فَأَتَى نَاحِيَةَ مَكَّةَ فَمَكَثَ مَلِيًّا، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ فَوَجَدَ الرَّجُلَ عَلَى حَالِهِ يُصَلِّي، فَجَمَعَ يَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْقَصْدِ، عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْقَصْدِ، عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْقَصْدِ، فَإِنَّ اللهَ لَنْ يَمَلَّ حَتَّى تَمَلُّوا

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out in Makkah and passed by a man standing praying on a rock. He went to a side of Makkah and stayed for a while, then returned and found the man still praying in the same state. He clasped his hands and said three times: 'O people, keep to moderation, keep to moderation, keep to moderation, for Allah will not tire until you tire.'
