حَدَّثَنَا زَحْمَوَيْهِ، حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَنَابٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي حَيَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، قَالَ: إِنَّ أَخِي وَجِعٌ، فَقَالَ: مَا وَجَعُ أَخِيكَ ؟ قَالَ: بِهِ لَمَمٌ، قَالَ: فَابْعَثْ إِلَيَّ بِهِ، قَالَ: فَجَاءَهُ، فَجَلَسَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، قَالَ: فَقَرَأَ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ، وَأَرْبَعَ آيَاتٍ مِنْ أَوَّلِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ، وَآيَتَيْنِ مِنْ وَسَطِهَا: وَإِلَهُكُمْ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ لا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ الرَّحْمَنُ الرَّحِيمُ إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنَ الْآيَةِ، وَآيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ، وَثَلَاثَ آيَاتٍ مِنْ آخِرِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ، وَآيَةً مِنْ أَوَّلِ سُورَةِ آلِ عِمْرَانَ شَهِدَ اللهُ أَنَّهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ وَالْمَلائِكَةُ وَأُولُو الْعِلْمِ قَائِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ، وَآيَةً مِنْ سُورَةِ الْأَعْرَافِ: إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ، وَآيَةً مِنْ سُورَةِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ: فَتَعَالَى اللهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ لا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ، وَآيَةً مِنْ سُورَةِ الْجِنِّ: وَأَنَّهُ تَعَالَى جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا اتَّخَذَ صَاحِبَةً وَلا وَلَدًا، وَعَشْرَ آيَاتٍ مِنْ سُورَةِ الصَّفِّ مِنْ أَوَّلِهَا، وَثَلَاثَ آيَاتٍ مِنْ آخِرِ سُورَةِ الْحَشْرِ، وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ، وَالْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'My brother is ill.' He said: 'What is your brother's illness?' He said: 'He has a touch of madness.' He said: 'Send him to me.' So he came to him and sat before him. He said: 'The Prophet ﷺ recited over him the Opening of the Book, and four verses from the beginning of Surat al-Baqarah, and two verses from its middle: "And your God is one God; there is no god but He, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth..." until he finished the verse, and the Throne Verse, and three verses from the end of Surat al-Baqarah, and a verse from the beginning of Surat Al Imran: "God bears witness that there is no god but He, and the angels, and those possessed of knowledge, standing firm in justice" to the end of the verse, and a verse from Surat al-A'raf: "Indeed, your Lord is God who created the heavens and the earth," and a verse from Surat al-Mu'minun: "Exalted be God, the True King; there is no god but He, Lord of the Noble Throne," and a verse from Surat al-Jinn: "And exalted is the majesty of our Lord; He has taken neither a wife nor a son," and ten verses from the beginning of Surat al-Saff, and three verses from the end of Surat al-Hashr, and "Say: He is God, the One," and the two protective surahs.'
