✧ I entered with al-Hakam al-A'raj upon Bakr b. Abdullah, and they discussed the matter of a deceased person being punished by the weeping of the living. Bakr narrated to us, saying: A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ narrated to us, and Abu Hurayrah differed with him on that, saying: Abu Hurayrah said: 'By God, if a man goes out fighting in the path of God, then is killed in one of the regions of the earth as a martyr, and a woman out of foolishness or ignorance then weeps over him, this martyr will surely be punished by the weeping of this foolish woman over him.' A man said: 'The Messenger of God spoke the truth and Abu Hurayrah lied. The Messenger of God spoke the truth and Abu Hurayrah lied.'
