✧ O Miqdad, take this and milk it, then divide it into four parts: a part for me, a part for you, and a part for your two companions. I used to do that. Then one night, I drank my part, and my two companions drank their parts, and I placed the Prophet's ﷺ part in the wooden cup and covered it. The Prophet ﷺ was delayed, and my self said to me: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has been invited by a household in Madinah, and he had dinner with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ does not need this milk. My self kept turning me until I went to the cup and drank what was in it. When it settled in my stomach, I was seized by what was old and what was new. My self said to me: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ will come hungry and thirsty, and he will lift the cup and find nothing in it, and he will supplicate against you. So I covered myself as if I were asleep, and I had no sleep. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and greeted with a greeting that the awake could hear and which did not wake the sleeping. When he did not see anything in the cup, he raised his head to the sky and said: O Allah, feed the one who fed us and give drink to the one who gave us drink. I seized the opportunity of the supplication of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I took the knife, intending to slaughter one of those goats and feed him. I struck with my hand and it fell upon her udder, and behold she was full of milk. Then I looked at all of them, and behold they were all full of milk. I milked into the cup until it was full, then I came to him smiling. He said: Ah, some of your misdeeds, O Miqdad. I said: O Messenger of Allah, drink, then I will tell you. He drank, then I drank what remained, then I informed him. He said: O Miqdad, this is a blessing; you should have informed me so we could wake our two companions and give them to drink from this blessing. I said: O Messenger of Allah, if you drink the blessing and I do, I do not care whom it misses.
