حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ

أَنَّ غُلَامًا لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَتَى بِتَمْرٍ رَيَّانَ، وَكَانَ تَمْرُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تَمْرًا بَعْلًا فِيهِ يُبْسٌ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " أَنَّى لَكَ هَذَا التَّمْرُ ؟ " قَالَ: هَذَا صَاعٌ ابْتَعْتُهُ بِصَاعَيْنِ مِنْ تَمْرِنَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ هَذَا لَا يَصْلُحُ، وَلَكِنْ إِذَا أَرَدْتَ ذَلِكَ فَبِعْ تَمْرَكَ، ثُمَّ اشْتَرِ أَيَّ تَمْرٍ شِئْتَ

✧ A servant of the Prophet ﷺ brought moist dates, while the dates of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were dry dates with some dryness. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: Where did you get these dates? He said: This is a sa' that I bought for two sa's of our dates. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is not correct. But if you want that, sell your dates, then buy whatever dates you wish.
