machine translationThis hadith was narrated from Ḥātim with two chains of transmission. Some said: from Ḥātim, from Ibn ʿAjlān, from Nāfiʿ, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Saʿīd; and some said: from Abū Hurayrah. The correct position with us, and Allah knows best, is from Abū Salamah that the Prophet ﷺ [said it], as a mursal report. My father said: Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb narrated it from Ibn ʿAjlān, from Nāfiʿ, from Abū Salamah that the Prophet ﷺ [said it], and this is the correct one. Among the things that strengthen our view is that Muʿāwiyah b. Ṣāliḥ, Thawr b. Yazīd and Faraj b. Fuḍālah narrated from al-Muhājir b. Ḥabīb, from Abū Salamah, from the Prophet ﷺ, this statement. Abū Zurʿah said: The students of Ibn ʿAjlān narrated this hadith from Abū Salamah as a mursal report. I said: Who said that, al-Layth or someone else?
