✧ The wife of Safwan b. al-Mu'attal came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: “Safwan beats me when I recite, and he forbids me to fast, and he does not pray until the sun rises.” Safwan stood up and said: “As for her statement, 'he beats me,' she recites my surahs. As for her statement, 'he forbids me to fast,' I am a young man. As for her statement, 'he does not pray until the sun rises,' we are a household known for that; we do not wake up until the sun rises.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her: “Do not fast except with his permission, and do not recite his surahs.” And to you, O Safwan, “When you wake up, then pray.”
