✧ Those of the People of Badr Whom the Prophet ﷺ Took Captive

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ الْجَزَرِيُّ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ قَالَ:
لَمَّا أُسِرَ الْعَبَّاسُ فِي الْأُسَارَى يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ سَمِعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنِينَهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْوَثَاقِ، جَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا يَنَامُ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، وَلَا يَأْخُذُهُ نَوْمٌ، فَفَطِنَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ لَتُؤَرَّقُ مُنْذُ اللَّيْلَةَ فَقَالَ: الْعَبَّاسُ أَوْجَعَهُ الْوَثَاقُ، فَذَلِكَ أَرَّقَنِي قَالَ: أَفَلَا أَذْهَبُ فَأُرْخِي عَنْهُ شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ: إِنْ شِئْتَ فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ قِبَلِ نَفْسِكَ، فَانْطَلَقَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فَأَرْخَى عَنْ وَثَاقِهِ، فَسَكَنَ وَهَدَأَ فَنَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ
Translation
✧ When al-'Abbas was taken captive among the prisoners on the day of Badr, the Messenger of God ﷺ heard his groaning while he was in bonds. The Prophet ﷺ could not sleep that night, and sleep would not come to him. A man from the Ansar noticed this and said, 'O Messenger of God, you have been sleepless since the night.' He said, 'Al-'Abbas is in pain from his bonds, and that has kept me awake.' He said, 'Shall I go and loosen something for him?' He said, 'If you wish, do that on your own.' The Ansari went and loosened his bonds, and he became quiet and still, and the Messenger of God ﷺ slept.
